The impOSCar is modelled on the unique and wonderfully esoteric British synthesiser, the OSCar.

OSCar was manufactured between 1983 and 1986 and was used to great effect by artists such as Ultravox, Jean-Michel Jarre, Stevie Wonder, Underworld, Orbital and even Oscar Peterson. Because it was released at the same time as MIDI and early affordable polyphonic synthesisers affordable the instrument wasn't a huge commercial success and only 2000 were produced before the company ceased trading.

However, to those in the know, OSCar has been a highly prized item and the secret weapon in many programmer's sonic arsenal. In a sea of monophonic subtractive synths available at that time it was unique and refreshing in many ways: It looked interesting, it had an additive synthesis section, it had memories, it was duophonic and monophonic and, with the exception of the filter, it was all digital. All of these features contributed to its sound which could be summed up in one word- Awesome. From sublime to screaming, from clean and clinical to phat as phuck, the OSCar did it all.

The impOSCar was two years in production and since its release it'amount of s become one of the most respected virtual synthesisers on the market. All the notable features of the original instrument are evident here as well as several enhancements including a more intuitive additive section, polyphony, increased LFO waveforms and a chorus and delay effects section.

The filters are a particular highlight of the impOSCar and feature two stunning 12dB filters running in series, a filter overdrive and sublime separation control. With these and the huge waveforms on offer the impOSCar is capable of a range of sounds far beyond that of any standard subtractive synthesiser.

Enjoy being surrounded by an exceptional instrument recorded at an extraordinary location. Powered by Native Instruments Kompakt Instrument, this virtual instrument features a Steinway Grand Piano recorded at one of the world’s most up-to-date and technically advanced studios - Galaxy Studios in Belgium.

Recorded in 24-bit /48Khz in Galaxy Hall (size 320 square meters, 8 meters room height) via Neve Capricorn digital console directly to ProTools. Microphones used include: close miking with 5 Bruel & Kjaer mics, room mics from Neumann plus SPL / Brauner Atmos system for the 5.1 recording of the grand piano. Separate microphone for the LFE channel.

Although optimized for full 5.1 surround sound, you can choose to load a subset (front L/R) and you will still be amazed by the sheer quality of sound.

Mapped in whole tones, with ten velocity layers to provide a natural sound quality over the whole dynamic range. Sample length up to 40 seconds, hence no loops. Grand total or approximately 6.5 Gigabytes of audio samples.

DiscoDSP Discovery Pro VSTi v1.0 Release 3-AiR

12 oscillators Virtual Analog VSTi Synthesizer
featuring 4 layers, WAV and SoundFont (SF2) support,
2X oversampling/undersampling, built-in arpeggiator,
sync, FM, 12 filter types, panning modulation, stereo
delay and gate effects, graphic envelope modulation.
Imports Nord Lead 2 SysEx data.

Pro features

These new features are the result of countless hours
of hard coding, design and engineering, bringing the
best work of discoDSP team in the form of a new VST
instrument.

2 new oscillators that result in a even broader sonic
palette. The new parabolic waveform will be bliss for
beautiful pads, soft sounds and new FM tones. Pink
noise brings that warm and lovely sound from classic
synthesizers.

Waveform oscillator

Now you can easily add new waveforms and wavetables
in DWB banks, WAV or SoundFont 2.04 (SF2) formats,
the later supporting 24 bit waveforms. Since its not
virtual analog synthesis we took extreme care of it
by adding one of the best interpolation algorythms,
resulting in very little aliasing and extraordinary
resampling quality.

12dB and 24dB Moog modeled filters called X and Y,
bringing a more sophisticated tone in addition to the
8 previous Discovery filters.

Graphic Modulation envelopes that take your sound
palette to high degree sound shaping. Just click and
hold your mouse to draw time-synced mod destinations
and get fresh textures.

Changes in R3

Polyphony increased to 64 voices.

SoundFont 2 support (.SF2 files must be copied to
Discovery Pro Data folder).

User.dwb folder bank added to enhance custom WAV file
load workflow.

Fixed a bug that made SSE-only processors crash when
plugin was instanced.
